Soundgarden's "Superunknown" is excellent.

I haven't listened to this album in a long time, but dammit if every song isn't a winner.

Cornell can write and these guys could play.

What an album.

I had this album going earlier this week, it's awesome. The song Superunknown is my favourite on the disc. Soundgarden was an awesome band, overshadowded and underrated during their time.

I saw Soundgarden in Calgary in '94. Amazing show. I remember Chris Cornell pulled some kid up from the mosh pit and asked him to sing the Canadian national anthem. The kid was pretty hammered and he managed to get through the first verse ok, but then the booze took over and he started butchering the rest of it. That's when Cornell stopped him and said "jesus man, that's fucking disgraceful", and pushed him back into the pit. It was hilarious. Soundgarden
were a great band, and I'm glad I got to see them.

So they were good live? I heard varying stories on their live show. Some thought they sucked live. I think it had to do with Cornell's voice more than the music though from what I hear.

Audioslave isn't as good as Soundgarden IMHO. Soundgarden and Pearl Jam in the early to mid nineties! Well Pearl Jam are still going strong. NOW THAT'S MUSIC! Just don't play "Ty Cobb" around young children as it may not set a good example.

I always loved "Head Down". The drumming in that song is really cool and unusual.

Matt Cameron is hands down the best drummer in rock. He's also the best thing to ever happen to Pearl Jam. Percussion-wise, he's been doing some really interesting things with them over the last few albums. Here's some useless trivia for anyone who's interested:

Matt Cameron was the original drummer who played on Pearl Jam's 3-song demo cassette that they sent to former Chili Peppers drummer Jack Irons in San Diego, who in turn passed it on to a friend of his named Eddie who was then working as a gas station attendant. Apparently this Eddie guy was known to write lyrics and belt out a tune once in a while.

Cameron is indeed very good. I've wanted to hear Geddy Lee's solo recored with him playing drums but just haven't gotten around to it yet. Geddy was asked what an ideal band would be for touring (other than Rush) and he mentioned Cameron, Langlois, and Baker.
