I rented EA SPORTS latest (and most popular) title, only to be disappointed. This game is flying of the shelf and its a piece of crap.I dont know if anyone here even plays games but if you do please put in your 2 cents. Espn hockey is much better.

I HAVEN'T PLAYED 2004, BUT HAVE PLAYED 02 AND 03 QUITE A BIT.
WHAT SUCKS ABOUT IT??
I HEARD THERE'S A LOT MORE TO DO IN THE GAME (IE FRANCHISE MANAGEMENT)

I played the PC demo, nothing special. Just like any other NHL game.

I played NHL2004 last night and its FULL of bugs. It looks nice and plays okay but the bugs piss me off. Vid glitches, player name display errors. BAH!
Also you need a 15 button joystick to play the damn game with all the new features they added for gameplay.
I won't be buying it.

Maybe SUCKS is too strong of an adjective. Different people like different things, all i'm saying is try before u buy.
The graphics on this years game is a step down. It's similar to espn's graphics. The gameplay is slugglish and some of the goals u score on are just plain weak. Also when u go up ice you cant tell where the puck even is, the camera is just too far away, and yes i've tried every angle.
The franchise thing is o.k. you argue with players about their salaries etc... but there are no nhl cards or tasks this year. The big unlockables consist of changing the wallpaper in the GM's office!!!!!! Or changing his suit! Like who gives a crap.. id rather unlock secret teams and uniforms like in espn.
Bottom line: 6/10

Gratts, I thought the graphics were a step up and much better than last year. Im playing with everything on in 1024x768. Better animations for hits and skating/puck handling. It's just the playing bugs and glitches that are frustrating.

I'm sorry, i should of been more specific. I'm playing it on the playstation 2. I have not tried it yet for the cpu but i will. Games will always look better on the cpu because the processors are tenfold over what the ps2 has to offer!

Ha - you're in Toronto, it's not like you could be unbiased. I looked at the style of play on TV and CHOSE the Sens. I love them for so many reasons, but an outsider can make a clear decision - Torontonians just have Leaf madness bred into them like a horrendous trait. And worse still it doesn't even skip a generation... 8) SENS ROCK! And why...seriously...would you say the Canucks truly suck? I mean, they're not my favourite team, but you don't hear too many people picking on them the way Sens and Leafs fans pick on each other...
