Full list of US Tour dates from thehip.com

girthy69 Wrote:Can anyone tell me what Irving Plaza is like for seeing the Hip? When was the last time they played there? Really looking forward to this show.

Fantastic!! Went to see them there in 02 for the IVL tour and stayed with a friend at NYU across the street. Drinks are pricey, but it is NYC. Venue doesn't have a bad view in the place...very small and after the show we were able to hang out with the band outside on the street for a while with about 15 other fans. Definitely one of my more memorable Hip moments. Won't make it out this year, but it is worth it if you can!

Hey all,

Got tix for Boston and Clifton Park - see you there.

I have not been to the Avalon before - how is this venue?

I've been shutout Sad I really wanted Buffalo for the 9th.

What do you all think the odds are of getting tickets at the door of either the Rochester show on the 8th or the Buffalo show on the 9th?? I'm nervous to drive 6 hours without tix..

Both a pretty big Hip cities so I'd be a little nervous, too. I'd post a request in the Ticket Exchange forum. There's already an Official Buffalo Tickets thread so ya just have to start one for Rochester.

Hope you work it out.

The aisle reads mainfloor and in the middle section it says mainfloor ga. The floor will be GA. I looked at a bunch of my old GA stubs and they all have aisle GA with a row and seat number.

AAARRGH! Didn't expect this one (nor did I expect The Spanish Inquisition)! Air already booked out to DC on 4/28 and the change fee is too much. I hope the setlist for this show is hits only, but it'll probably turn out deep cuts only. Sad

avalon is sweetly located on landsdown street (it's really an alley next to fenway park) theres about 8 clubs in a row all the way down the street. the club is like most, dark sweaty, cheesy and uncomfortable... im not sure but i think it holds 1300?? anyone? theres a bar on left and right slightly elevated, some booths an risers in the back... basically a big mosh pit in the middle and front. Great club, loud and in your face.

the fact that there is a sox game is a bummer for transportation. the subway will be so full, and running late as usual. parking... forgetaboutit.

see you there.

Thanks for the description Jeff.

The wife and I travel to Boston quite often during hockey season to see the Bs - so this will be a rare non-hockey trip.

So this place is near Bill's Bar and Jillian's...? I was hoping for Somerville Theater or the Orpheum...

...Also hoping the Bs will still be playing in mid/late April. (well - I can hope)

yes, landsdowne houses Avalon, AXIS, bills, and a number of nightclubs and bars... i saw the hip play avalon a few times. last time, it was only 2/3 full, NO tapers, and the set was average. while the tour before they were doing 2-3 nights at somerville. packed house! go figure. Avalon will be a good show, i prefer the GA clubs over the reserved seating of theaters.

dont be surprised to see other New England shows pop up. I know of one more already, but swore not to repeat it. sorry.

hope to see you there.
