Why, is that a flashback harp we hear? Mike Bell will be by with a look at the device of flashing back in the movies.

We return to the present to get Bill Bryson’s help with the latest round of “What’s On Sook-Yin’s iPod?”

We’ll get some rock n’ roll memories from the guitarist for one of Canada’s most enduring bands - Bob Baker of The Tragically Hip.

When do you put those memories into book form? Literary lady Tammy Everts will tell Sook-Yin how you know it’s time to pen your memoirs.

We’ll talk with London, ON rapper Shad K. about a remarkable song he’s co-written about the Rwandan genocide - with his mother.

Then it’s across the sea to Belgium for a live set from The Tragically Hip - complete with commentary from Bob Baker.

Sorry for the multiple posts, but I wanted to get the information out there for everyone, before you missed too much!

Now I'd like to know if anyone on the west coast could try and capture this. As far as I know, this show starts it's broadcast at 1:00 PM local times, across the country.

If you missed the first interview, it was Gord Downie, not Bob Baker as stated in the show's description. Gord talked about his first time singing, at a house party, trying out to be the singer in his friend's band, The Slinks. He sang The Doors' song, The End, and got the gig. He was eventually uncerimoniously replaced from the band. He talked about having a good memory for people, places, and random things like the material on the back of a chair. He said he has good memory for particular gigs and things that happened at them, but admited later on that he's often had trouble with remembering lyrics. He used Nautical Disaster as an example of a song that he might try and change a word, or add something to make it more relavant to something that might be going on in the world, but that a little change can then throw him off track, making him totally lose his place in the song.

There is a "best of" podcast on the DNTO page now for yesterday's show, but there's no mention of Gord or The Hip in the description. Hopefully someone got a better capture, but for now I've got something that's a little better than nothing.

I missed capturing the first hour interview and My Music at Work, because I had no idea it was coming. I tried to capture the second hour interview and the songs played after that, directly from my radio, but I wasn't sure what I was doing, and it didn't work well at all. I then put on a central time CBC radio stream and captured the 32 kbps interview and song from the first hour.

I waited for the second hour stuff, but right in the middle of the interview, I lost the stream and some of the interview. I then put on a mountain time CBC radio stream and waited to capture the second hour stuff, but lost the stream again, at almost the same spot! So, of course I put on a pacific time stream and waited again to capture the second hour stuff. Would you believe that despite no problems at any other time, I lost the stream at the same spot during Gord's interview again! I'll post it anyway, but there is a gap while the stream buffered, it happens while Sok-Yin reads an entry from the Hip Story Project.

I had buffering delays again in the third hour, and decided not to even bother capturing the music when it started up again. I don't believe that I missed any type of interview though.

Long story short, follow the link to get some poor quality captures of the 2 interviews. I didn't include any of the music, because it's not worth it. The quality of my capture wouldn't be able to compete with the version that's on the tracker right now anyway!
