TICKET- MASTERBATING
#16

I saw a documentary on Ticketmaster (I think it was W5) and the Ticketmaster CEO said they will keep increasing service charges as long as people will buy the tickets. He said that if people stop buying them as a result of service charges, then they know where the limit is. It is so wrong yet what are we to do...miss the Hip to prove a point? Fat Chance!

The only option to avoid the huge service charges is to buy directly from the venue. Not too practical these days...

For example, NFL Buffalo Bills. I can buy the tickets online, and pay an extra $8-10 "service" charge (per ticket), plus $3-5 "convenience" fee (per ticket) OR I could take a drive to the stadium ticket office and buy the tickets for face value plus a $3 service charge (PER TOTAL ORDER). Same goes with NHL tickets for the Buffalo Sabres (though tickets.com is not as pricey on the extra fees.)

Tough call. But, this may not be an option for out of town fans, which make up a decent % of the crowd per game.

To get concert tickets these days, or for high demand sports teams, going to the box office is no longer reasonable due to the rise of the Internet. During the cup run in Buffalo (damn Carolina :ramboSmile , they encouraged fans to stay home and try online as opposed to camping out at the box office. Wonder why!

It sucks that it has come to this, and people will still bite the bullet and buy the tickets regardless of the fees that go with it. If we don't scalpers and ebayers will and Ticketmaster will still be pleased with sales and jack up fees.

Venues still sell out regularly (some in a matter of minutes) and it doesn't look to be changing anytime soon. With events selling out so fast, you know it is Internet sales that are making it happen...which means a lot of fees brought it.

Don't know if they is any way to fix this without missing out on our favorite bands, teams, etc.

No one can beat Ticketmaster. If Pearl Jam couldn't do it, I'm sure the Hip are powerless

I was just practicing my quick fingers on the ticketmaster site. I was reloading the page and a message cam up that said: "You have tried to access this page too many times and you are now blocked from ticketmaster for the next several minutes. Please try again later" or something along those line. Good thing I was just practicing. A warning for those of you hitting refresh over and over.

googolplex Wrote:Yeah ticketmaster is a bunch of bullshit. I never buy through them if I have the choice. I generally get my tickets for shows from local Toronto record shops like Soundscapes or Rotate This. Unfortunately some shows sell exclusively through Ticketmaster, and obviously for presales you have to go through them.

RIGHT ON Smile

Supporting places like Soundscapes FIRST, is the key

F ticketbastard!!!

I had tickets lined up but they vanished.
I couldnt see the magic word and then was unable to process.
I am so friggin pissed off.
I tried to get tickets to three different shows.
Nothing.
Any Help for Vancouver and Calgary for a dedicated long-time fan?
I hooked up a fellow hipbaser last Vancouver show, so karma should be on my side.
Please?
