If the band does have any gripes or reservations about Bob Rock, you and I ain't going to hear them until some time down the road.

They aren't giving interviews out of the goodness of their hearts. They're promoting an album, and you don't promote an album by saying, "I think the producer is a doofus." You say it's the bestest thing you've ever, ever heard.

That's one reason I'm not really interested in question-and-answer sessions. They're not likely to tell you what they really think (and there's no reason that they really should), so why bother?

I'm interested in them, since they reveal nuggets of info, like a U.S. release date, a U.S. tour (planning my travels now), or the b.s. behind them being close to breaking up after the last tour -- all which were revealed.

To be honest, I could care less whether Paul likes him or not -- the record is done.

Maybe I have a short memory but I believe the guys and especially Gord D are really jazzed about this album compared to some of the other recent releases (IBE & IVL). After watching The Hour live performances I am convinced that something a bit more special is in the air with the band. The new songs are really appealing and come off so intense and fresh live. Honestly there were some IVL and IBE songs that I was heading for a bathroom break on during those tours. Not that I didn't like them but they weren't suited as well for the concert setting....IMO.

One thing about these new tunes is that many of them have very concice and easy to understand hooks. The choruses are much more "sing-along-able" than most stuff on IBE for example. Gus, Heaven and Summer are cool Hip tunes but can the average joe sing along to those melody lines?

I believe that is where Rock came in and tweeked things...

Sounds to me from the Hour interview that Gord D is more fired up about the band and this group of songs than ever.... Even giddy about it (deli story).

I agree Spottrax, Gord does seem a little more worked up about it. I would also argue that this album has received a fair bit more publicity than albums previous (just an opinion). You're correct on the sing-a-longness of the new tunes. They have a quality to them that is perhaps hard to put a finger on. One thing I did single out is his tendency to repeat certain versus more, the proverbial hook as it were. Although some might see this as a way to appeal to a wider fan base, and hence sell more albums, I don't think it's the case. Gord is just too sincere to worry about money and the glamor that comes with being one of the greatest rock bands of all time. Admittedly, though, this view might not equally be shared with the record company. Regardless, the new album is great and I'm glad to see the band in A-one shape. From the sounds of it, fans have been really pumped after the shows at the Phoenix.

I think Are You Ready and Use It Up are the closest the Hip have come to sounding like GBV. What's GBV?

I'm not saying they tried to, I just think those two tracks have always stood out as being reeeeeeeeeally non hipish...

all in all, im not a huge IVL fan, but I admit that IAGLIYDW is one of the best live Hip songs to hear.

On another note, I love IAGLIYDW. It is an awesome personal reflection song for me. What I gather from that song is that it is a song about finding your place in life(Find somewhere we're needed..find somewhere to grow....). I'm sure there's an even deeper meaning to it because of the way Gord writes lyrics.

And right now I am really trying to find my place in life...like am I going to be a bachelor working dead end jobs the rest of my life, or am I going to get an awesome job and have a kickass wife and kids, or an awesome job and horrible wife and kids :lol: .
