Some of the greatest lyrics?
#46

There are two snippits that frequently run through my mind.

"Either it'll move me, or it'll move right through me"
These sentiments have become somewhat of a mantra for me.

"Awake, affiliated and indelible"
I have always loved how these words go together and roll off the tongue. Infact, I am known to rewind and play this line, and the few before, repeatedly.

Your personal conviction's fierce
It's been in your family for years
But in your ponytail blown loose
I can see what this is doing to you

Lyrically all the albums are great, each has its own feel and takes you to different places. Thats another reason I love the Hip so much, its one of the very few bands that really gets my mind going, lots of great images and thoughts conjure up when you listen to them and every album has a distinct feel and vibe that I find enjoyable. IVL, FC, UTH and DfN are my favorites for that. But if I had to pick a favorite line from a song it would be this one from Throwing off Glass, I love that song..

"why is the world so creepy? she asked"

What a great line to open a song with.

Imagine a world before the "beginning was the word.”

There are a few that come to mind at the moment:

"When we're excited little birds, around the feeder
The cat's indifferent or he's just furious, it seems that he's never neither" --i'm not sure why, it's just one of those things that stuck with me.

"In straight lines through shadows you're there" -- i think i just like the effect of the repeated "s".

" but your finger starts to wiggle and landscapes emerge"

And I'm jumping on the Nautical Disaster bandwagon. I actually used it for a project last semester. We had to bring in a poem or a song and discuss its poetic merit and why we liked it and that's what I chose to present because I love the imagery in it, especially the "thrashing madly as parasites might in your blood" line.
