Random Thoughts on Internet Forums(as observed by a neutral poster); What follows is a collection of unrelated, incoherent observations and thoughts regarding internet forums.
The written word can be much less expressive than the spoken, and can also be misread. Sarcasm translates particularily poorly to text as it requires subtle changes in tone to detect as well as an understadning of the mood of the speaker/writer. Sarcasm should be avoided on forums only to avoid misunderstandings.

Criticism is meant to help one develop or hone thoughts or skills, not to offend. I believe many confuse criticism with opinions, and usually opinions are taken personally, often resulting in defensive actions. Those giving criticism should post unbiased comments, not personal feelings to circumvent misunderstandings.
Examples as spoken by a prude:
Critique: "For a better effect, the song could be louder."
Opinion: "The song was too quiet for my tastes."
Forums weren't designed as a venue to vent daily frustrations on others. CAPS SIGNIFY RAISED VOICES. <----- A period following this statement is highly ironic.
Punctuation is quite important signatures are sometimes larger than posts.
Contributing to a thread isn't always necessary.
Posts that are as follows are very frustrating: "I know the answer to that question<end post>" or "I have information of which you are not aware<end post>" Prodding for answers from these posters seems only to aggravate the condition which causes this self-gloating.
Thread titles can often be deceiving.
