i saw them in vancouver a few years back,and they pulled out New Orleans Is Sinkin...it was awesome

As for the tour, I seen them a few years ago and I thought they were great live, go see em if you can. :thumb:

They're playing Zaphod's in Ottawa?? Wow, I thought they were more well known than that. Zaphod's is tiny. It only holds about 250 people.

Go see the Phonics, wherever you are. The new album is probably the best I've heard so far this year, and perhaps their best since Performance and Cocktails. It's a how to for bands to evolve without forgetting the sound that made them popular in the first place.

Hmm...I kind of lost interest in them for a couple of years there. I still own Word Gets Around and Performance & Cocktails, and I always loved their cover of "Fiddler's Green". Pershaps I'll give this new one a listen. I hear they're amazing live. Anybody see them at Edgefest 2003 when they opened for the Hip? I wish I coulda been there.
I saw them at Edgefest, the dam drummer got kicked out of the band that week, so they played sorta acoustic, it was still good. Im surprised you gave up on them, the J.E.E.P album was really good I thought.

I gained a greater respect for the Phonics after Edgefest. The fact they were able to play that gig acoustic without getting bottled to death was incredible. There was just something about Edgefest, or Molson Park that brought out the absolute worst in people.

I saw them with Howie Day at The Kool Haus last year (maybe 2003?) and was somewhat disappointed; Mainly because they played so few of their older gems, and stuck mainly to their newer, less well-known singles. But I still remember the incredible versions of "Local Boy in the Photograph" and "Step On My Old Size Nines" that they played that evening!
I was also present at Edgefest, where I enjoyed them immensely.

I think the Kool Haus show was Feb 2004 -- maybe a little later though. They also played the Opera House in Sept 2003. Heavy on the new stuff then too, but a killer version of Traffic.
