Disagree all you like - you're allowed! Sure, the 80's made an "impact" that we
all feel in some ways - like technological advancement, for example, but I'm also allowed to express MY opinion that the statements made in pop culture throughout the '80s were
loathsome.

cratch:
What do you mean - we're not supposed to have preferences? It's not as if I "hate" every event that transpired throughout the entire decade or anything...but were talking about
pop-culture here, not science or medicine or sports or politics. And it just so happens that I like a variety of the fashions and styles of the 50s, 60s, 70s, and 90s, but
hate most of those which were popular in the 80s. Why have a discussion about it if all our opinions are lukewarm or indifferent?
And as far a music goes, sorry, but the scene in the 60s and 70s was one of greatness that will never be duplicated, surely not by acts like Iron Maiden or Wham or Duran Duran or Skid Row Winger or Warrant or Tesla or Billy Idol or Poison or Motley Crue. Sure, you can pick out a few acts that, might have raised the bar for popular music through the 80s if they had more help (AC/DC, Aerosmith Van Halen, Def Leppard, REM, Springsteen, Mellencamp, Tom Petty, Rush, ZZ Top, G’n’R, U2, etc.) but IMO a) they were
few and far between compared to volume of great acts making music in the 60s and 70s, and b) much of what was 'good' was coming from acts who had either released
better music a decade
before or a decade
later (Pink FLoyd, Robert Plant, David Bowie, Cheap Trick, Clapton, Beasties, Stones, Who, Heart, Neil Young, etc.).
