First heard the Hip when I was 8. I heard Courage on the radio when Fully Completely was released. I really liked the song, but I wasn't really into music just yet. Then when I was 12 Trouble at the Henhouse was released and I fell in love with Ahead by a Century. That summer I umpired baseball all summer and earned enough money to buy my own CD player and that album. I was so proud, I began really building my Hip collection about a year later and have listened to them ever since. Favourite band by far.

I first heard thehip in 1992 when Fully Compeltely came out. I always anticipated them playing the Courage video on Much Music and I loved it. I bought the album on cassette tape sometime in 92 when it was released and played it every chance I got.
It wasn't until 5 years later, after just turning 19, my buddy Scott invited me to his cottage on the Civic Holiday weekend in August and he had an extra ticket to see thehip play Another Roadside Attraction (August 2nd, 1997) at Molson Park in Barrie. It was an awesome show. We saw Ashely MacIssac play on Wheat Kings and had the luxury of seeing some pre-Phantom Power songs that included Membership, Vapour Trails, Save The Planet and Bobcaygeon.
After seeing that show, I was completely and totally hooked on thehip. I bought all the albums and am probably on my second or even third copies of some of them because they've been played like nuts.
Fully Completely is still by far my favorite cd. How can it not be; afterall it got me into the greatest Canadian band....EVER!!

always like The Hip, but it was the summer of 2000 that did it for me. I had all of there albums, and when my brother got tickets for a Pine Knob show I begged him to let me go (as it turns out my mom made him take me). After that first show, getting up to front row, I have been absolutely hooked.
Its an obsession that no one understands, except for all of you.

great topic...
i can actually pinpoint the exact moment i became hooked. after listening to the band casually for a few months, my friends and i decided to make the trip up to toronto for the 2000 new years day show at the ACC. this concert blew me away. i was immediately hooked when i heard the opening notes of 50MC and heard the reaction of the crowd when Gord started...."Bill Barilko disappeared...." thats what did it for me.

Spring 93 driving through Europe with three buddies and only two tapes, one of them Fully Completely. After listening to it several times a day for three weeks and still loving it, I knew. Had seen the hip once previous to this and really enjoyed it, but after that trip couldn't get enough.
