Hey all, it's officially Thursday here on the east coast. So that means it's Thanksgiving for me and my fellow Americans. So HAPPY TURKEY DAY!!!

This is what I'm thankful for this year:

• Moving back to NY state
  Reuniting with David
  Having a roof over my head, clothes on my back and food to eat
  Losing weight
  Getting healthy
  Meeting almost all of the hip
  Seeing the hip live
  Joining the hipbase back in April and meeting loads of awesome people I am proud to call friends
  Living in one of the most beautiful places in the whole world
  Being close to my family once again, not 1200 miles away like last year
  

hmmm....I think that's about it

I'm looking forward to going north to Plattsburgh and celebrate with my family TWICE! Once thursday and once on Saturday. We're staying up there so I won't be around till probably sunday.

I'm in Turkey withdrawal. Us Canucks had Thanksgiving a month ago. I hope all you American hipsters have a great Thanksgiving Day. Christmas is on the way!!!

I'm thankful for everything I've ever experienced that's made me into the person I am today. :thumb:

Alright, now that the requisite sentiment is out of the way, I'm really thankful for a sort of pop / hippie culture tradition (in America, anyway) that I had the opportunity to enjoy this afternoon. I never anticipate it but every Thanksgiving I stumble onto a radio station playing the epic 18-1/2 minutes of"Alice's Restaurant" byArlo Guthrie.

If you're hip to Arlo & Alice (& Officer Obie & the "twenty-seven 8 x 10 colored glossy photographs with circles and arrows and a paragraph on the back of each one explainin' what each one was"), you know what I'm talkin' about.

If you're not, imagine a song that's really more of a comedic monologue (with a catchy little chorus) about a couple o' young hippies getting arrested for littering after spending their Thanksgiving Day clearing refuse from an abandoned church, their experience with the police and eventually, the draft board.

It's almost forty years old and it's still as hysterical today as it was when it garnered twenty year-old Arlo a Grammy nomination. The album went Gold, which, in 1967, was quite an accomplishment.
