Need Help Buying a Computer

Are you trolling? What's the point of your "question"?

Settle down slugger. I think it is pretty clear that my comment was tongue in cheek sarcasm. Man, you Mac Nazis have zero sense of humour. You all take every anti-Mac comment as a personal attack. It's a friggin computer!

For the record, I have an iPod and I love it, but I'd hate to purchase a Mac as my first computer and run into situations where software X won't work on my Mac, etc etc etc.

Tongue in cheek? Add a smiley.

Mac Nazi???? That's a personal attack.

Get a Mac, and then comment about whether it is a good computer. Your assumption that buying a Mac and then having all kinds of trouble is wrong.

Do you need a bunch of smiley faces to help you interpret everything you read? Like I said, no sense of humour.

And read my quote again - I didn't say one would have all kinds of trouble with a Mac. I said not all software is written for Macs. And that is a fact. Is there a "that is a fact" smiley face?

Once again, it is just a computer. I'm not talking about your sister, your brother, or your dog.

Seriously, what is with you Mac people?

No, I do not need the smileys, but they sure would be nice. McDonald's has smiles on their menu, so they must be good! (And your arrogance comes through loud and clear on that line.)

I re-read your post; now please read mine: Buying a computer, and then running into situations where software X won't work on it, etc etc etc is what most PC users go through on a regular basis. Sure the software says it works on their OS/hardware, but that doesn't mean it will. Add into that mix viruses, and PC users have a whole slew of problems to deal with. Why are consumers happy with below average? When shopping for a stereo, most people don't factor access to service and support very high on their list. But when buying a PC it has to be right at the top - as many have posted in this forum.

I have never had to call Mac support for my Mac at home; and I've only had to call it a couple of times in my life - and both times were at work, where 15 users with little or no computer knowledge, used a Mac daily.

You're right, it is just a computer. And I still contend that Macs are better than PCs for the majority of computer users.

Look Chris, I didn't mean to anger you. I tried to make a little crack about Apple's lack of market share, and you got all pissy at me for it.

I've got absolutely nothing against Macs. Hell, I think iTunes is the best piece of Windows OS software ever written. It just baffles me that anytime you make an anti-Apple comment around a Mac owner, they flip out like you've just shot their puppy.

So, to end this discussion, let me apologize for my failed attempt at humour.

no "cferneyh" - as an outsider to this conversation, you are the one that got all pissy with your "Mac Nazi's" and then your comment about "what's with you Mac people." Obviously you don't have any clue about computers, let alone Macs!!! And I'm a PC user! Everything (and I mean everything) Chris said is factual and to the point. Your comments are just slander. You haven't stated a single point to this gentleman as to why he should buy a PC and there's all kinds of good stuff. So clearly you are the one that needs to "settle down slugger" as you so kindly put it!

I actually thought the "trolling" posting was funny. And although I'm probably outnumbered, I agree with cferneyh... it was just a joke, nothing to get defensive about, no need to defend Mac or even compare Mac to PC.

With that said, isn't this a thread about helping someone buy a comp 'n not about Mac vs. PC or he said, she said?

You're right! I thought the trolling comment was quite humourous as well!!

So if all parties can agree that this is not helping the computer buying decision - let's move on.

"Let's agree to disagree!"
