Ahoy, has anyone heard of this before? I'm not sure how visible it is with the naked eye but it does cause cd's to skip. I've not experienced this phenomenom first hand(well not that I know of) but a close friend told me. I hope this isn't true. I've prawly got around 700 cd's. But I remember when they first brought forth cd's and I think they said you could put your finger prints on them and they'd play great still but thats not the case. :?

I've read that CD's, if properly maintained with be reliable for about 50 years. Oils from our skin, dirt, heat, sunlight, etc, all decreases their lifespan.

I know that I've had that problem with CD-Rs. If I keep them around for a few years, the coating tends to flake and peel...causing the disc not to play. Sucks big time.

I have to agree with the CD-R experience, I lost 2 Rush boots that way after about 5 years of playing them because the person I bought them from in my younger dumber years used cheap CD-R's. cost my 45 bucks for them too! :roll:

If you want your CD's to last, don't buy the cheap ones. Avoid No Name CD's or "Staples Brand, Wal Mart Brand etc." That's what I was told anyway.
