Does anyone think Gord will do some kind of interview before the tour starts?
I mean, despite the situation, it feels weird that there's been zero press for the actual album. Not that I expect him to sit there and talk about the new songs, but...
Just curious what everyone's views are on this.

I think it makes far more sense for the rest of the band to do interviews. Far easier to focus on the music that way. If Gord were to do interviews, it's inevitable that the conversation would migrate to his health and I don't think anything would be gained by forcing him to talk about that. The band is just as capable of promoting the new record and tour as Gord is.

I'm not saying I expect him to, I'm just wondering if people are thinking maybe he'll do some kind of video interview (CBC? Strombo?)saying he feels good (if he does) and is looking forward to playing the shows.

I've heard from the band's publicists that the band, in no uncertain terms, will not be doing any interviews surrounding the tour/record. Of course it's possible that they will change their mind but the sense I got was that it wasn't going to happen.

I'm guessing no press -- since they bypassed the usual media that would accompany an album release, think they will stay silent. Even if it's not Gord, they'd end up getting questions about Gord.

That SIRIUS interview with Rob Baker said exactly zero about Gord's health. I'm pretty sure that was a condition of it taking place. But it might be harder to control that in a more wide-open promotional push.
Gord has a history of not liking interviews or the promotional part of the business. So it's totally understandable, and not surprising, that he doesn't want to waste time on that stuff.

I hope he doesn't, unless it was with a seasoned broadcaster who clearly understood limits and respected Downie - how many of those are there left?
Strombo? That dude makes me ill - please, NO!
Let the music talk and leave Gord alone...or do one serious print interview
I mean, considering he may have less than two years to live and has a young family, it is actually incredible that he is even leaving his home - I get how important it is for his own well being and life, but if he had to deviate from his mission of this tour to answer inane questions like "how do you feel?" and "what was it like getting news like you did last year?" he'd last a week at best...

Peter Mansbridge would fill your bill. Seasoned broadcaster who clearly understand limits. I am not saying he should do an interview or not, just answered your question.
That's who came to my mind at first, too.
