New Album info
#1

i have a friend who recorded a song up at the Gas Station recording studio on monday. don kerr was there and played on a song. my friend told me that don knows the manager of the bathouse and this guy flew to vancouver to sit in on one of the sessions. according to don kerr, the guy from the bathouse said the new hip album is incredibly guitar driven and "a lot like road apples"

of course i know this is all hearsay, but it sounds promising. i dont think don kerr would lie about something like that. im sure everyone expects a really guitar driven album with kasper producing it, so this makes sense.

lets just hope this is accurate information

You just made my day. As I write this, my shirt is soaked through with saliva. I only hope your source is right.

That sounds INCREDIBLE!!! That's so amazing...I have been waiting for a brilliant guitar driven album for years. As much as I loved their last few records, this sounds even better...

I wonder if Ballroom and Josephine are going to be on it then? Neither of them are really guitar driven or Road Apples-esque. But thanks for the tidbit!!

I just came across this link over at amth:

Sounds pretty promising for a spring release. Here's hoping anyway. :thumb:

Edited to add: I believe the friday that is talked about is last friday which means the mixing is starting right about now. 8)

Road Apples is my very favorite all time album, so this is incredible news for me!!!!!!!... well if the rumor is true. I have my doubts but I am still hoping.

I love all Hip albums but I am really sad to say that I think they have been going downhill in the last few years. If their new album is very guitar driven and like Road Apples like you say it is, I will be absolutley extatic!

*please let it be true!!*

-Cheers

i have a question.

why is it that people always want a new album to sound like one from the past. for example, people in this thread want the new cd to sound like Road Apples did. why is that?

i would expect the hip, and any other band for that matter, to mature as a group and bring new sounds and new ideas into the studio. i don't think they will do another "rock" cd like road apples because that isn't their sound anymore.

they are 12 or 13 years older than they were when (has it been that long?) RA was released. they have grown and matured and now have a different style.

i guess i would like to see them bring something new that we have never heard before.

of course, i am probably just talking out of my ass again.

I agree with you Mark. I don't think the new album will sound anything like road apples. I love all of the albums including music @ work. I am sure that the new album will not disapoint. I can see why people would love to see another album like road apples and I would not complain if it does sound like RA. However I am perfectly happy with another album like IVL.

It's simple actually. I love all Hip albums, but the sound of Road Apples is just my very favorite style of music. - Good old "swampy" blues-based rock n' roll. I'm also a guitarist and that stuff for me is a lot more fun to play on the guitar than their newer stuff.
