I saw the hip in Detroit last year and the show was great...but festivals in the summer are a no go these days..greatest hits, screaming Gord...just no interest in that anymore. I still love this band, but I'm 10X more excited to see Pearl Jam here in London than I am that the hip are playing here the following week. PJ are guaranteed to play a great show with an unpredictable setlist, and it's cheaper than the hip. 2 great bands, but PJ seem to work much harder at keeping things interesting for everyone: varied setlists, hundreds of live bootlegs, some cool merch, etc. The Hip just keep it too simple these days.
Edit: I realize comparing these 2 bands isn't really fair due to economics, but I use PJ for a couple reasons: similar career lengths, similar approach to setlist in the past, and they are my 2 fave bands.
