I don't know about good costumes but I'll tell you about the most tasteless costume I ever saw...
At a party I was at once a guy showed up in golf clothes (plaid knickers and a floppy hat) painted really grey with a airplane propeller blade sticking out of his head, and when asked he told us he was Payne Stewart...this about a month after his accident.
We kicked him out

a serious ass-kicking would be deserved....
also, on a lighter note...I have been conned into going out with a group of friends for Halloween and everyone is dressing in a different decade theme...somehow I got stuck with the 90's...and have NO CLUE what to wear. I was thinking about my Phantom Power tour shirt...but I feel it would be too dull? any suggestions?

Probably too dull, i think your going to have to dress up into a 90's icon.(wig included)
