Im a 17 year old from selkirk ontario and for as long as ive been able to walk ive been a hip fan. My favourite album is without a doubt road apples, although fully completely and phantom power stand out too. I believe the Hips best song is At The Hundreth Meridian due to its vivid and epic lyrics. Unfortunately growing up into todays world the majority of my friends dont have the opppurtunity to understand and really feel the Hip due to the amount of attention that is given to rap and metal music. I was wondering if there are any more hip youngens out there!

I am 18 almost 19, love bringing my friends who only know maybe 2 or 3 hip songs to a concert.
Try it, even if they dont like the music theyll get a kick out of downie.

Welcome! It's hard being a younger Hip fan (although I'm getting up there), all of my similar-aged friends like shitty pop music. Who'd pay $100+ to see Lady gaga when they could see the Hip twice??

and I agree with you on the fact that people our age look over the hip because they are "old" or whatever. or because they don't sound like Linkin Park, Disturbed, Lady Gaga, Sean Paul, etc. idk bout you guys but I think it's good that not EVERY BAND sounds like those bands. Music would just get boring... we need some variety!!!
and I too am one who falls in love with their lyrics. lyrics are another piece of the art that is music. youngn's forget that quite often. but I am glad to have met more young hip fans! makes me feel not so old school haha

So I'm 19 almost 20 and I made it to my first Hip concert last week and it absolutely blew my mind. I'm a huge Springsteen fan too and the Hip and the Boss have a lot in common. Both make up the best live acts out there right now, both shows have a lot of energy and stage presence. On top of that they are very much about the LYRICS, a lot of the power for both acts lie in their words not just the music.
It says a lot about the current state of the music world that young people are listening to bands that got their start long before we were even born. On the downside it shows how not great the "modern" bands are, but on the upside it shows the timelessness and eternal youth of Rock and Roll.

Liking the HIp doesnt make me feel old-school at all. The rolling stones are another story though.
The Hip seem to keep there edge through there live shows and support of young Canadian break-through bands.
I also like how they refrain from playing the classic rock festivals, they arent washed up yet.

I'm 20. I live in Detroit and while there's a great punk/rock music scene in Detroit (er, was), people here (especially people my age) just don't appreciate the Hip. I've converted my dad, though, and it's not hard to drive right over the Ambassador bridge to a place where people love this amazing band!
....maybe I'm just hanging out in the wrong spots....)
