We're planning a trip to Kingston and I was wondering if there are any Hip-related places we should plan on seeing, such as a bar they played a lot in the beginning, etc. Any suggestions?

Hmm. I think the last Hip related item - the LIve Betweeen Us mural is now gone.

On another note, Kingston is a great place and there is lot's to see and do. Let me know and I can give you some places to go, but I think they are on here somewhere.

Kingston Brew Pub also has some very fine in-house creations, and an awesome cider.

Only Hip related thing I can think of, Morrison's Restaurant, which if I recall makes an appearance in one of the early EP videos.

Bathouse is only a 20 minute drive, nice along the Lake Ontario shore......

Take the Glenora Fairy from Hwy 33 just about ten minutes from Picton. It is a great drive along the water and takes you through Bath and eventually into Kingston. You could probably find Rob Baker playing the banjo on his porch, just down the road from Queen's.
Keep in mind that two of the boys haven't lived in Kingston for years. Just talk to Johnny Fay and he will let you know what he thinks of Kingston.
Personally, I think it's one of the nicest cities going.

Sorry, I was cut off there. If you collect Vinyl Hip stuff, check out the record store on Princess street between the Tim Horton's and A&P. The guy has sold me all three of their first albums on vinyl. He also has a great collection of other artists.
The Hip used to play at the Copper Penny on Princess as well. Although, you wouldn't know it from eating there now.
Another question I have wondered for a long time is whether the Hip filmed Nautical Disaster on the Amherst Island Ferry? It is located just outside of Millhaven.

Actually, they played at a different Copper Penny, which is apparently no longer there. They did, however, used to play at the Manor (<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.rainbowcountry.bc.ca/TheHip/">http://www.rainbowcountry.bc.ca/TheHip/</a><!-- m -->), which I am assuming is the same as The Midtown Manor, as it was called when I was at Queen's in 2000. The Midtown Manor later became The Peel Pub, and is currently a Philthy McNasty's franchise. It's located on Princess Street just west of University Avenue.

"Brian's Record Option" is the name of the record store on Princess. He rarely has any Hip vinyl in the store these days (I check every time I visit K-Town), as he sells most of it on ebay.

It really is a shame that the Live Between Us mural was painted over. It was one of the first places I visited off campus when I started school.

The Copper Penny that they played at was out in the township, across from Frontenac/Collins Bay Penitentiary on Bath Road.
The Manor was located right next to the Olympic Harbour - not the place now known as Philthy's.
