Hey there should be a thread about good record stores that we know of that we can share with others.
Plus, I would love it if we would all post on here when there is a used record show in your area so others can go too. Its hard to find out about these things all on our own. So lets share some information.
Let me be first.
Downtown Kitchener right across from City Hall on King st. Is a used goods store with half of the back of the store is set up like a used record store. Some pretty good finds in there for myself. Plus they have a music DVD stand with a bunch of music dvds on it. Its about 50% records and 50% cds.
They had a used record show last year at the holiday inn on Fairway Rd. and King St. in Kitchener, I went there and dropped a hundred dollars on a few albums.
They were handing out flyers of future dates but I lost the flyer and cannot locate them on the internet with a general search as I forget the name.
Neither of these stores feature in-store performances, but they're both great for finding long out of print CDs, and they've got excellent vinyl and DVD selections as well.

My favourite used record store for the past 24 years is Vortex at Yonge & Eglinton here in Toronto.
I can remember walking in and buying the Courage 12'' out of the "just in" section, and the guy behind the counter saying "looks like The Hip have made it....". I didn't understand that at the time as I had been into the hip for a couple of years by that point.
I visit Alternative Audio and Record of Wheels in Dundas.
Sometimes the best "stores" are dad's, uncles, or other friends and family members that might have huge stashes of vinyl. Its worth asking.
Also, you would be surprised at what you can find at your local library system, they will often accept a "generous" donation for something you like.

Yesterday I was browsing around at the Inner Sleeve in Calgary and came across this gem. They were having a sale on new and used vinyl, so I snatched it up for only $22. The only Weakerthans album I've ever seen on vinyl is "Reunion Tour", so I was very surprised to find this.

I know "Reconstruction Site" is out there - I've got it.
Nobody in my family or even extended family owns records anymore, im not sure any ever did, other than my great grandmother who had a bunch of 78s. I AM THE GUY that all future grandkids and neices and nephews are going to come to so they can hear some vinyl.
I used to go to peter dunns vinyl museum downtown Toronto back in the 80s and could spend hours in there.
New World Records in Brampton back in early 80s was the best place for me. I used to go in there once every 2 or 3 days as I lived around the corner. I collected just about the entire Rolling Stones library on vinyl along with The Doors and Led Zeppelin. I loved that place, always something new every 2nd day. It seemed everybody in that town was selling all their vinyl collections to him. Id go in and pick and choose what I needed. Best buy I ever got there in 1983 was The Rolling Stones Englands Newest Hitmakers with a free poster insert from 1964. Wholly shit I paid $40 for it. This past weekend one sold in Ebay for $269.00
