i am a little bit frustrated of the lack of diversity the hip are showing in their sets in thsi tour so far. There are just some songs they shouldn't play all the time and I think all fans know what they are yet they continue to play them. I am going to the toronto shows on the 1st and 2nd of Aug. and I don't wanna know what songs I will hear all the time, I will always be a true fan but I think they should not always have constants in their setlists, they are better than that!!

I have to agree with that alittle, but they have only played 13 shows.
check out what they have played on this tour so far, its really not that bad if you look at it.

Yeah, I agree as well. Some of the coolest parts of the concerts are hearing obscure songs! There are a bunch of other songs not on that list I'd really like to hear.

Hi,
I'm going to the House of Blues downtown Chicago tomorrow to see the show. I was scanning some setlists and hoped that they had been playing Dark Canuck a lot, but I see that they have only played it a couple of times. I'm hoping for the roll of the dice tomorrow, and like everyone else, we're hoping for some variety & obscurity in the set.

I whent to sarnia and agree on the first post about not enough diversity i have tickets for both torontos show too and will be pissed if they dont mix it up from the sarnia show . I whent and saw Weezer on sunday and it was a great show , although they didnt play say it aint so or the new single keep fishin' kinda of unheard of (by the way check out weezer.com its the best site of any band i have seen updates everyday and new mp3s ,videos unlike the useless hipclub.com) Anyway weezer played the songs they wanted to play and not the songs some of the crowd wanted to hear . N.O.I.S and others dont need to be played cause u can tell the band is not into it , basically i want to hear the songs they want to play - maybe some escape is.. some chagrin , anything a little diff.

I wouldn't worry about it too much... the Hip have played almost 40 different songs in 13 shows... 4 of which were showcases, where they completely played IVL (the radio broadcasts).
Typically, the Hip show a great diversity between shows when they're playing shows that are geographically close together. So if you've got tickets to both Toronto shows, don't worry. I haven't seen the Chicago set lists yet, but looking at the NYC shows this year, they only repeated 6 songs in the entire set... Poets, NOIS and 4 new songs. The shows in Halifax & Newfoundland? They repeated 12 songs between shows, but each show had an average of 7 tunes different... that's not bad.
Also... the Hip have typically expanded their selection throughout a tour, generally introducing new songs into the 'rotation' as the tour goes on. We're only a couple of shows in... Also, diversity seems to step up in Canadian shows/tour. (I'm not sure why that is)....
I think we got a little spoiled on the "Evening with..." tour quite frankly. The sheer volume of shows & songs called for more songs being pulled from the archives. We're not going to get 30 songs a night. And let's face it... for everyone of us who rolls our eyes when they pull out 'the old standards', there's 500 people in the crowd who are loving it, because this is the song 'they just HAD to play!'....
Personally... I STILL get a kick out of NOIS... but I could do without ABAC....

I can recall 20 different songs played between the first two Chicago shows. About fifty percent.

The Hip played either 21 or 22 total songs Tues. night... I looked at the setlist & noticed that Lake Fever wasn't on there, and I think they played one more that I don't see here either.
Got a chance to meet Rob outside the hotel before the show, and I shamelessly begged him to play 'the Canuck"! I then saw him again in the hotel and asked him again. He talked to my wife and I for a minute while he was waiting to go over to the concert hall. What a nice guy.
They played the Dark Canuck, so I was happy.

I am from St. Louis and don't often get an opportunity to see the hip. Chicago was my second show, 1st was Dec 1998. I would probably want to hear the obscure as well if I could see them every year. Radio play?, HA! Not here. I thought the show was great. Jonesin' for more. As for songs always played, I thought Blow at High Dough rocked hard although not close to one my favorites off of the album. Same with Poets. Really wanted to hear Wheat Kings. Would have loved to have heard Locked in Truck, Grace, So hard Done, Impossiblium, Luxary, Bastard, Sharks, etc, etc. Not complaining about any of what I heard, just wished they would have played longer. Got to meet Rob after show in bar downstairs, very cool. If he tosses a disc golf putter into the crowd anytime soon, it came from me. I would appreciate any help getting a cd of any live show. I don't have anything to trade.

I agree. I'm disappointed at the lack of rare songs being played. Would it kill them to play "Another Midnight'?
For the previous tour, "An Evening with The Tragically Hip", I read an interview that said they were going to play "Get Back Again". As far as I know, that never happened.
Glad to see they've played "Three Pistols" though. When I saw them @ The Hard Rock in Atlantic City in 1998 (This was a FREE show by the way with MAYBE 50 people there - anyone remember?), some guy kept shouting out "Play Three Pistols!". Finally, Gord said they wouldn't play it for "personal reasons." I have no idea why. Any ideas?

I've read alot of setlists in the past few years. They will play alot of the new stuff at first and bigger hits while touring the USA. In Canada they seem to play a greater scope of all their material.
