i can't decide if the Hip are the best band ever, but they are certainly up there. My musical taste keeps going through changes so i could favour another band over tehm for a period, but come back to them as being my favourite band. I think that this happens with everyone, so this question is a little hard to answer

General concensus says 'The Beatles' are the best band ever, being to young I can only judge The Beatles on their music I wasn't round to see the impact they made in the 60's and 70's. I enjoy alot of their music but my favourate album by the Beatles (Revolver) would only be my 8th favourate Hip album (if the Hip recorded it). As for other bands that normally top the best band ever polls I can't stand Pink Floyd at all and The Stones and Led Zeppelin i'm quite happy to only need greatest hits albums rather than collect all their work (which I have heard).

So it all comes down to your own opinion which is obvisiously an individual thing - to me The Hip and Pearl Jam are the bands i'm happy to call the best bands ever in my own little world. But there again in my world Duran Duran are also amoung the best bands ever so i'm pretty sure my world is pretty unique
