Just downloaded off of iTunes yesterday. All I have to say is WOW...............this CD is amazing, I love hearing Old Man introduced as "here is a new song"
Neil Young, this guy I can't describe how comforting I find his music. There is just something so indescribable about it.............his guitar playing, his lyrics, his overall somber personality. Yes I like his heavier distorted stuff too, but him with an acoustic guitar is just unbelievable........... goosebumps and chills.........
When Prairie Wind came out, I jokingly described it to a friend as "the whole CD is like a warm blanket beside a fireplace on a cold winter night"................LOL..........she looked at me like I was crazy, but it made complete sense to me.............maybe someone else out gets that comparison too...........LOL
I also found it kind of funny that after I said that and the Heart of Gold DVD came out, the log cabin with the fireplace was on the screen in the background...made me feel not so crazy............

I too picked it up yesterday and I must say it is totally awesome! Neil is truely one of Canada's greatest poet/musicians.

I am listening to "On The Way Home" and I already love this cd. :thumb:
**EDIT** The more I listen, the more I love. "Journey Through the Past" is the song I'm listening to now. What a great sounding live recording. For my money, Neil Young is the greatest artist of the 70's and one of the greatest artists in music history. There is NO ONE like him in music, NO ONE.

Ok, enough of my unhealthy obsession with Neil Young. Carry on.

The mark of Neil's greatness, imo, is that one the one hand his influences are pretty obvious (and he's quite frank about them): his Bobliness, Hank Williams, Link Wray, and so on. But on the other hand he's worked out an entire sound all his own around the double drop D tuning, so his songwriting is unique.
And this CD is amazing. I would even put it on a "if you only own one Neil CD" list.
