That was a great little map TG...I think what we'll do then is take a cab since their will be 4 of us, to Lakeshore & Bathurst, and walk the last little bit. Dim Sum at Bright Pearl for lunch, Belgians at Beer Markt before the Hip in the evening, should be pretty damn fine day.

Not being from Toronto, what and where is the Beer Market?

It sounds like a great pre-show place...of all the times I've been to TO from Buffalo, I've never been there.

Esplanade Bier Markt is on Esplanade, just east of Yonge & Hummingbird Center. They have a huge beer menu, including lots of Belgians. Food's decent there too, and they have sidewalk seating as well.
If anyone in TO knows of other bars/pubs with a large Belgian selection (Unibroue's on tap are fine too), that are closer to the Fort, speak up.

The Bank Note (or something like that) is at Bathurst and King. The bar across the road from that I think is like the oldest tavern in City of Toronto proper. They're both only like 10 mintues tops walk from the Fort.

The bar across the street from The Bank Note (aka The Wheat Sheaf) is indeed the oldest tavern in Toronto (Since 1849), and is rumoured to have once had a tunnel between it and Fort York.

I'm trying to make up a GoogleMap from London, to the CNE where you guys suggested we park, but I don't know what to input for the CNE. Anyone know the intersection, or anything that could help me out. I'm not that familiar with Downtown Toronto.

You're looking for the intersection of Lakeshore Blvd. West with Strachan Avenue. This is right where the Princes' Gates are (if you're familiar with the Exhibition). Exhibition Place is another term for the CNE if you're googling it.

You can also look at Fleet Street and/or Fort York Blvd., but they're pretty minor streets fronting Fort York (off of Lakeshore Blvd. West) that may not show up on a map.

* Edited to change Princess to Princes'! I actually thought it was Princes' but wasn't sure. Also, I was going to put in brackets that Strachan was pronounced "Straughan", not "St-rach-an" if one was going to ask for directions to that street. People will have no idea what you're talking about if you say St-rach-an. And don't ask where Spadeena Ave. is either. :wink:

I found a map to Fort York, and after zooming in nice and close I can see those streets you mentioned, I'm sure once we get to Lakeshore and Strachan we'll see the gates and have no problem

Great instructions... I think that pretty much everyone calls the the gates the "Princess Gates" but it's actually the "Princes' Gates" named after Edward, Prince of Wales, and his brother, Prince George, who visited in 1927....

Does anyone know the closest Green P to Fort York? I usually try to park in those because they don't jack up the prices on weekends or when events are on...
