i think it's sad, this dude saved up his cash and was all excited to go, and got fucked over, it's nobody's fault, but it's unfortunate, because this guy would've most likely been a fan for life had he got to attend, now isntead of enjoying their music, he'll grow to despise the hip, and be reminded of how "he got screwed" every time he hears them...

Good point. Acquiring a credit card isn't that great of a challenge these days... depending on the choices that you've made in life up to the point of applying. Every decision you make has consequences - not always negative - but they do; in this guys life, his decisions prevented him from getting a credit card, and going to this show.

His inability to get credit, and his choice to post his frustrations on thehip.com speak loudly to me about him.

Can you tell me how to get a credit card because I sure as hell can't get one. I'm being punished for paying all my bills and never being in debt. I've bought three vehicles in my life, all with cash. Now I'm being punished for being frugal with my money and not needing a loan. :lol:

Start by going to your bank and see what the manager can do for you.

Sam, I've been turned down by several companies already because of "no credit history". That's what I want a damn card for, to build credit. I've already been turned down by MY PRIMARY BANK! My "reality" is that I haven't been able to obtain a credit card, even from my own bank. Maybe I could try a few other banks though. Thanks for the advice. :thumb:

The guaranteed way to a credit card is to offer one of the Banks to hold cash for you against a credit card to start. Tell them your situation and that you would like to give them $1000 and in return get a MC or Visa with a $1000 limit. Then go and use it a few times a month for a year and then ask the $1000 to be released back to you... now that you've proven you can spend and pay! then watch the offers come in... before you know it your card limit will be $10-$15k

This is the method they use to get Bankrupt people back in the credit loop.

Well, I'm stunned. When I was a bank teller, I sold a credit card to a guy who told the bank manager that the majority of his income came from gambling at the Casino. I mean. If that guy didn't get his application ripped up immediately for being a bad credit risk, I can't see why the banks would be suddenly so discriminating with you.

You can get a store credit card (Zellers, the Bay, Canadian Tire, Sears) and hold it for a year. You don't have to use it at all, or use it once and pay the balance in 30 days. As long as you don't miss any payments, you'll have a lovely credit rating in no time.
