Upcoming shows to be used as a preview?
#1

So I guess it's looking more and more like the upcoming shows are going to occur before the release of the new album. That being said, do you think the Hip will still preview new material? Or will they simply use it as an opportunity to play some rarities and warmup a bit for the real tour? I guess in Europe, they could play the IBE stuff and that would seem new.

If I were to guess, I'd definitely say that the Hip would play at least 2 new songs from the album, just to test them out live and give the crowd a feel for the new stuff as well as The New Maybe or No Threat - or both!!! That's just my guessing and wishful thinking.

I'm thinking they'll play a few from their new album (incl. N.Maybe and No Threat), and a lot of the not so cliche songs (no NOIS, ABAC, Poets, etc.). I heard they'd go back to some lost classics like warewolf

yeah, we went to roadside in 97, and they were playing 3 or 4 songs from pp.

Why would they wait until after the summer to release the new album ? I thought they were in the studio months ago. Presumably, the recording part's been finished for awhile. When M@W was leaked ealry, Gord D mentioned wanting to shorten the time between recording and release. It just doesn't make any sense to this ignorant American. I suppose a lot of that can be out of a band's control sometimes. I'm still hoping for a June release. Regardless, it's well worth the wait. Smile
