not kravitz, but lenny bruce!! was watching the brilliant movie with dustin hoffman the other night about bruce's life (and what a life it was..great viewing...)anyways...there was a line in the movie that reminded of the old tales from the hip shirt...lenny storms out of the room after an argument with his girl, she runs after him yelling..."WHY DO YOU ALWAYS HAVE TO BE SO FUCKING HIP!!!"..loved it

A friend recommended that flick to me a couple years ago, and I was blown away, been a big Bruce fan ever since.

I thought of the Hip too when I heard that line... even had it as my signature over at the Newsgroup for a bit... great minds think alike and that I guess.

i knew you'd appreciate it...hoffman is brilliant in that role...i'm not sure how well it did box office wise, but you can see how much bruce influenced other comics, especially george carlin

Speaking of Hoffman (sorry to go off-Hip) did anyone see I "heart" Huckabees? I saw it yesterday and am still mystified how that movie got green-lighted. I can't say whether it was good or bad. I can't even give it a rating out of 10. Can anyone tell me what it was about? Hoffman was funny, though.

Speaking of Hoffman (sorry to go off-Hip) did anyone see I "heart" Huckabees? I saw it yesterday and am still mystified how that movie got green-lighted. I can't say whether it was good or bad. I can't even give it a rating out of 10. Can anyone tell me what it was about? Hoffman was funny, though.

I often wonder why guys like Hoffman and Deniro do these stupid pop movies? I mean it has to be a favour for somebody right?

They can't possibly see the script for "Meet The Fockers" and say: "My God, get Marty on the phone this one's a classic."

And if they don't need the money, or the profile boost, why do these crap-a-thons at all?

As for why they get green lighted, I think it's because so many great actors keep agreeing to do them for some odd reason... "what, Bobby D is in? Well, hell, here's $40 million for dick and fart jokes!"

Throw in some guy getting hit in the groin with a football every half hour or so and I'd throw the movie producer a couple hundred bucks...face it, dick, fart and crotch jokes/gags are funny....especially when booze is involved.

Richard Pryor always talks of the greatness of Lenny Bruce and how he was a major influence on him. :thumb:
