The Hip, Motorcycles & The Bathouse
#1

Over the Christmas break I was chatting with my brother-in-law about The Hip, and he asked if I saw the show on TSN that featured the guy who runs The Bathouse, and his motorcycles????

Has anyone seen this? Apparently it was on during the last couple of months, and included on the road footage, and a tour of the studio.

I'm not sure what his name is; all I know is that he likes to ride motorcycles, it was a motorcycling show, and it was on TSN.

That would be Billy Ray...he doesn't run the Bathouse anymore, but he is still one of the head tech's for the Hip. He is a Norton fanatic, and owns several, I believe...he actually had a great dog named Norton, who unfortunately died a few years back.

I thought it was Billy Ray, but I didn't know that he ran The Bathouse. I also thought it may have been Mark Vreeken... but again, the way my brother-in-law described the guy - it didn't sound like someone who travelled with the band.

Thanks Derek!

Yeah I happened to see that episode and I ment to post something about it, it was pretty good. It showed BR ripping around on his bikes, and he took the host on a tour of the Bathouse, he showed some of the original artwork that is featured on the album covers, the DFN tree was in there, it looked pretty cool.

BR was saying that he likes to ride his bikes to clear his mind, and while he was on one of his rides he came up with the idea to put GD's setlist underneath a clear panel of plexiglass so that it doesn't end up drenched in sweat by the end of the show...I've gotta get me a bike to come up with my own pearls of wisdom.

Thought it worth mentioning for those who don't know what Billy Ray looks like I found a pic (among others from Across the causeway) on http://thespades.ca/main.html under "photos". Billy Ray is the one 14 pics in with the baseball cap on. there is also some neat shots of Gord Sinclair playing with James McKenty and The Spades.
