Ron Sexsmith tour
#1

Hey all

Anyone seen Ron Sexsmith live recently? I just got back from his Kingston show, and I'm desperately trying to review it for the school paper. It wasn't earth shattering or life altering, but so good and really so different than a lot of other bar shows, that I'm somewhat at a loss for words. Such a good rapport with the crowd, and a back catelogue that he's not affraid to reveal. Seeing him should be a "how to" for people who already know "how to" to paraphrase GD.

And he covered the Clash's "Bank Robber"... how awesome is that.

Cheers

Pat

I've been thinking about catching this Friday's show in Toronto...

Were you there early enough to see Sarah Slean???

He was in Holland a little while ago but I missed his show unfortunately. Sad

Can you tell us some more about the setlist?

Yeah, Sarah was pretty cool. She looks as good as she sounds and has incredible stage pressence, especially behind the piano.

Ron's setlist was as follows:

These Days
Pretty Little Cemetary
Lebbenon Tenn
Imaginary Friends
Gold In Them Hills
Tomorrow In Her Eyes
Idiot Boy (solo)
Speak With The Angel (w/Don Kerr on cello)
One Less Shaddow (new song)
Strawberry Blonde
From Now On
Disappearing Act
Tell Me Again
Whatever It Takes
Former Gloary
----
Secret Heart
Bank Robber (Clash Cover)
Riverbed (with Don Kerr, Tim, and Sarah Slean singing great harmonies)

I play with Tim Bovaconti every Sunday at The Only Cafe, here in Toronto. Ron dropped by a while ago to play some covers with us... It's never been about Ron's stage show. The songs do the talking.

Wow, that's a nice setlist...I am glad to see him sticking to a lot of Retriever.
