I think its a great idea. It could work great in theory, but after last weeks disaster, I dont know...thank God I got my tickets b4 the site went down. Its a great homage to fans when bands do "stuff" like this. It just needs to be made better. Thehipclub should have known that it would be "attacked" Tuesday morning. However, Thehipclub did put the instructions up on the site at about 9:45 am EST.
As far as Ticketmaster is concerned, its touch and go with them as far as ordering the day tickets go in sale. I lost 4th row floor for Eric Clapton @ HSBC because according to Ticketmaster I took longer than the 5 minutes alloted to fill out the forms, when in actuality it was more like a minute and a half. When I finally got through 2 minutes later, I was pushed back to the lower level.
Dont even get me started on all the taxes and convenience fees, I could write a book!
I will however, use this and other ticketing programs in the future providing improvements are made.
My advice for anyone seeking "first in line" tickets:
-Get on the site 15 minutes b4 hand
-Get acclimated with how the site works. If you can, pretend to buy tickets for something already on sale. This way you will know what buttons to push.
-Get a seating chart for the venue b4 hand, print yourself out a copy for reference. Dont waste time looking at it on site b4 your tickets have been completed.
-If the site will let you create a profile to log in as DO IT. It will save you headaches down the road. Even if it means inputting your credit card.
-Make sure you are logged in to the site.
-Refresh is your friend, use it frequently. You'll be happier when that clock strikes 10:00.
-If possible, verify the status of your order ASAP. (I know tickemaster will let you do this immediately after ordering tickets.)
-Finally, keep that comfirmation number!
-Dont get caught with your pants down. Sometimes its a good thing, but not here.
Cheers,
Chad

if i had of known that the first 4# of the hip card were not to be used i would have been siting 1st row for both shows.
I was in the ticketmaster site about 2 minutes before 10am and was only having probs cause i was trying to use the whole number. Hip club was down so i didnt know.
Anyway, i got in after refering to the usenet group and realizing my mistake. at 10:10am I ended up with row 5 first night and 14 row second night. Both center stage.\
I have an accout with Ticketmaster and i would recommend it for everyone. Makes things so muh faster. But the hipclub should have emailed that info to everyone instead of relying on the website. Copps seats 19K for a concert, did they think it was going to be slow?

NO YOU WOULDN'T, I knew before hand, and i only got 9th row, and 6th row, ticketmaster was having problems, and not recognizing my #. a couple of people realized this problem, and just kept pluggin. be happy with what you've got. and believe me it's not that hard to be in the front row, from 15 rows back.

I was logged in right at 10am with my HipClub number (minus the first 4)and Ticketmaster account ready to go. As I tried to purchase 4 tickets, it said my code was invalid. I started to get a little pissed but kept trying. I tried for about 15 more minutes before the code worked. I can't understand why this happened. I have been online to get tix through ticketmaster before and have gotten very close each time. This time was a disaster and now I am in row 30, center. Obviously I am thankful just to be going to the show but I like to be closer than row 30 and feel a bit ripped off by the people working these sites. Was there just to much traffic? If so, aren't they expecting that to begin with? Oh well, see you all on the 30th! Can't wait!!

The idea is awesome, but Ticketmaster can be improved. When the Threatre tour was announced I did a few trial runs on Ticketmaster, but when the real thing came, something fucked up. I had 2nd row seats for the first WPG show, but it said my credit card wasn't accepted. I tried again and ended up with 6th row seats. :?

I agree with mostly everyone else. I think that Ticketmaster screwed up that morning, not being able to identify any of our correct passwords for a while. It's too bad that the THC page crashed, but I was able to find out the instructions well before 10:00.
Overall I think the idea is great. Theoretically, the CD buying fans get the first crack at buying the best tickets in the house. It's worked great throughout the tour for me. However, I was a bit worried about the "unlimited ticket" policy for the holiday shows. I was sure that one scalper with a fast computer was going to buy up the entire floor, but I ended up with 5th row, and it sounds as if most fans ended up doing pretty well. Still, I hope that they reinstate a 4 or 8 ticket limit from now on.
