Just wondering if I've got any fellow buskers on the base? If so what's your act, where's your pitch and how do you usually do? I layed off of it for this winter, but I finally got back on Saturday and apparantley I was missed because I made an absolute killing.

No busking here, though we did see a very interesting film this weekend about a busker called Once (2006).

It's billed as a "modern day musical" and the lead role (Glen Hansard) is a busker in Dublin who falls for another musician (Markéta Irglová) after she is stirred by his street performances. They team up to record some of his music. The actors are both real-life musicians (Hansard was a member of The Frames), and are both very talented. It's very romantic and the music is impressive.

Highly recommended.

I think that is playing on TMN in Canada right now... definitely want to check it out.

Not to highjack the thread, but...
I must agree with Esthete, Once was, overall, a great film. I am a fan of the musical revival, and this film shows just the way to go about it. Songs are beautifully interwoven into the plot, and the audience has the chance to watch them "come to fruition", rather than having to grapple with stars breaking into song and dance for no reason.

I really like the creative relationship that develops between The Guy and The Girl (no, my memory isn't faulty, the lead characters aren't given names) and the ways in which they navigate it.

The music has a feel similar to that of Damien Rice, but perhaps its just the overall Irish influence.

Go rent!!!
