Interesting take in the Ottawa Citizen today about Gord's use of sincere sarcasm/self-deprecating irony, & how there is something quintessentially Canadian, perhaps, in the way he sends (at least) two messages at once with each one neatly subverting the other.
Hope everyone is enjoying this glorious summer Sunday...

Still seeing this billed as the "final tour" and Kingston as the "final show". I thought the hips lawyers were putting the kabosh on that?

With the promoters, I'm sure they are. I haven't seen anything like that from the CBC. But newspapers, etc are still running with it.

Where/when did they "put the kabosh" on that? What did they say?
In the final contract for CBC to broadcast the show The Hip stated that final or last (or a couple words like that) could not be used in any advertising.

Quote:• Help us implement clear and consistent communications about the Broadcast. On all promotional materials for Your Screening:
• Refer to the event as “CBC and The Tragically Hip present ‘The Tragically Hip: A National Celebration’”;
• Include a CBC logo (attached as Schedule “A”);
• Do not mention the words “final” or “last” in any material associated with Your Screening including on any printed or digital promotional material. We are aiming for a spirit of celebration for the Broadcast and that is important to the Band;
