Matt Mays- Coyote
#1

Another outstanding effort from one of this country's most talented songwriters. Easily one of the best albums I've heard this year. Everything this guy does is gold.

Agreed. I'm also a big fan of the lead-off track, "Indio". The entire album is fantastic.

I'll be in the crowd this weekend in Toronto. The last time I saw him live (Lee's palace I think?) it was packed and exploding with energy.

I was there too, and this show was amazing!

Sad, sad news:
Jay Smith, a guitarist best known for his work with east coast rocker Matt Mays, died Wednesday while the band was on tour in Edmonton.

Had the chance to party with him after his Fredericton show in November...
And let's just say he partied hard.
Sad, but not that surprising Sad

The entire band parties very, very hard. When I heard Matt Mays' guitarist had died I wasn't surprised. Based off their stage demeanour, energy, antics when I saw last week in Ottawa I falsely assumed it was Adam, shocked to learn it was Jay.

RIP.

tbh, I had no idea who Jay Smith was before this happened. My girl and I have spent a shitload of time listening to Matt Mays and El Torpedo over the years, be it camping, road trippin, etc., there isn`t a song that we feel the need to skip over. Obviously with this happening, we will hear the music a little differently now, but enjoy it just the same, probably more. It looks like Jay had a huge influence in steering Matt from more of a country sound to rock. I downloaded Jays solo album the other day and have really been enjoying it, reminds me a bit of Sam Roberts. We feel very fortunate to have been at that last show in Edmonton.
