Cute? Or Creepy?

From the front page of the Local section of today's Cincy Enquirer:

Kinda creeps me out a little...the girl's pose seems a little to "adult" to be "cute" to me

The Office's Angela would surely love this picture. I'm with you, I find it a little creepy myself.

To me and the wife, that's just cute...
We have a 2 year old who does the same... It's called 'caring'

Still picking up the elderly from the floor, still dealing with the drunks, now wrestling seals and posting it on twitter.. @richardilderton
'Whoops' is not a word the patient wants to hear...apparently

Confusedcratch:

Dude, its just two kids and their noses are touching, so what, how is that not cute?

Its the innocence of youth, nothing more.

Imagine a world before the "beginning was the word.”

"So what"? So nothing. I think some of you missed my point. I don't have a problem with photos of kids kissing, for god sakes. Typically, pics of kids being kissy kissy ARE cute. I've seen many that are cute as hell. I figure most would probably find this cute as hell too.

This one just happened to strike me as a little creepy (note "little") at first glance, and it's entirely due to the pose -- while it definitely IS the "innocence of youth" captured on film, their particular poses evoke a more "grown up" impression -- like two adults celebrating a 10-year anniversary kissing at a romantic dinner.

That juxtaposition is what I reacted to, and just wondering if anyone else had a similar response, that's all.

I have to agree with you Horrible! I think it's the girl's hand/arm that does it for me. It's a very "adult-like" pose.
And I think the title of the photo also made things a little more "adult" then they should have been.

I say they are both wax figures, posed and moulded in their respective positions... Look at her hand. Tell me that thing wouldn't start melting if you lit a match to it...

But where do children learn?
From watching and copying.
If they have seen a parent kiss another like that, then they will use it...

Same as my 2 year old daughter watching kung-fu panda then kicking ass Smile

D, nobody's saying that kids mimicking adult behaviors isn't common or natural.

Okay, I'm going to try to keep this thread on the normal Hipbase trajectory.

I hate Coconut Cream!

No wait, Coconut Cream changed rock history!

I feel like Skippy should have something to say about this...
