Hawksley Workman - Los Manlicious
#1

Just picked up the new album.
Heavy.
Dark.
Epic.

I never ceased to be amazed by Hawksley.

Anybody else hear this yet?

Am I seeing things or are there three or four songs on Los Manlicious that were on Between the Beautifuls? Are the songs reworked on the new album?

A few of them yes, and a few of them, no.
"Los Manlicious" was submitted to Universal, and then they rejected it, telling Hawksley that it was too heavy for his sound, and to come back with something else.
So Hawk came back with "Between The Beautifuls", and that got accepted.

And then Los Manlicious had to be released at some point because it fucking kicks ass.

If that's true, it sounds just like the "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot" debacle between Wilco and Reprise. Good on Hawksley for finally putting out the music he wanted to release. It's astonishing how pathetic major labels have become these days.

I listened to Los Manlicious and the only tune that caught my attention was The City Is A Drag.
