Hi all..
I'm a Canadian journalist looking for groupies.
If you're a Hip groupie and have some stories about trying to meet the band, and your love of the Hip, I would love to chat with you.
Drop me a line at ayates@ctv.ca
It would be great to hear from you!
Best,
Andrew

Hmmmm...interesting.
I've met the band several times, and have even had some very amazing chats and times with them. But to actually sit there and call myself a groupie, I don't think it's very fitting.
I picture a groupie being a girl in scantilly clad clothing trying to get backstage to sleep with band members. I've been backstage with the guys, but not in that sense...and I'd hate for people to think of me that way, just because I'm a girl, just because I've been told I'm attractive, just because I gawk at Gord Downie like he's God (okay, well even though I think Gord Downie is the SEXIEST MAN ON THE PLANET - for real - I would never want to be thought of as a groupie).
This email post just got me thinking...and I pose this question to the guys on this list. If you see a girl talking it up with The Hip bandmates, do you think of her as a groupie??
Interesting...

Not at all.
I know Gord S. is married with kids. I don't see the guys being "That Kind Of Bad."
I need 2 Kingston Tickets, please help.

Well I know from being around the band several times that they are all super nice guys with the best of intentions. But it DID make me chuckle when you mentioned that. With the exception of Johnny, all the guys are married and have families, but honestly, that doesn't always mean anything (unfortunately). Married (or spoken for) musicians and athletes are notorious for tip-toeing around and whipping off the wedding bands when families are not around. I used to date a pro hockey player, I've seen what people are capable of when not in the vicinity of loved ones. Such a shame, too, really. I don't go for that.
If ever I was even remotely interested in someone - regardless if they are a musician, athlete, politician, it doesn't matter...but if I were to find out they were hitched or had someone special in their life, I'd walk away...without giving it a second thought.

I know being married does not hold alot of people back, but I just like to think that they would not do something like that. Cheating is never good for anyone.
