unfortunatly, they will play the song to death and make me sick of it im sure...

I liek the tune alot, but once FM96 ges a hold of something good, they kill it by playing it over and over...

I heard them BE THE FIRST at 820AM today

Not to burst your bubble or anything, but it was also debuted on every single rock station across the Country today...in any event, it's still exciting to finally have new studio-quality Hip to listen to, isn't it!!!!

I was driving this afternoon and was thinking that I'd really like to hear it on the radio. I scan through the channels and land on 97.7 HTZ FM and hear the DJ say, "After more than 20 years together, we're just about to receive their tweflth album! From Kingston, Ontario's Tragically Hip, here's the preview single, 'In View'"

Timing is everything, but on a day where the song gets 5 spins per station, I guess it was almost inevitable...

FM 96 has singlehandedly killed a number of great tunes....they just spin the shit out of whatever is new....um blue october.......not to mention their inexplicable love affair with nickelcrap......about 2 weeks ago, Leader Of Men was on their 30 songs that matter list...that song shouldn't matter to anyone, ever....

I'd be interested to know what kind of play it's getting in New Brunswick (my home province). The stations, at least in Saint John, are completely corporate, with hardly any breaks from computerized decision-making:

10 Choose between Phil Collins and Supertramp
20 Go to 10

My point is that if it's getting played a lot there it almost certainly means that it previewed well on those little phone surveys broadcasters do ("Please rate the following song snippet from 1 to 5"), which could presage whether or not it's going to be a hit. I heard Vaccination Scar for the first two days it came out and that was it.

Cheers,
John

Too true, that station is the worst for overplaying songs, they've ruined alot of tunes for me over the years. Thankfully I barely ever listen to the radio anymore, thank goodness for ipods and similar devices!

Imagine a world before the "beginning was the word.”

i had to buy an mp3 car deck so i wouldn't have to be forced to endure the repetitiveness of fm96...no to bash them too much, cause they do some good stuff too (their EMAC sessions are cool, and they do some good interview stuff too, as well as promoting some local talent (well, bobnoxious anyways)...but man, they gotta expand their playlist!!!

Should have tuned in to the morning show, Iron Mike played it at the top of every hour.
