Comprehending your favorite hip song
#1

It has just really hit me in the last 60 minutes.

I have always contemplated music by the hip, But one of my favorite hip songs (Gift shop) has just run up and smacked me in the face with its full meaning.

Now I like it even more, I could be wrong but I am satisfied with what I have come up with...
It is a song about the great and beautiful things in our world, And how afterward everything else seems so cheap and meaningless...Like a gift shop.
At least that is the gist of it.
I posted this because I wanted to hear what it was like for everybody else when they find out the true meanings behind their favorite hip songs, And what the meanings are...Just for the rest of us without the same train of thought.

Great Topic

The beautifull lull
The dangerous tug
We get to feel small
From high up above

And after a glimpse
Over the top

This part of the song , to me represents some life altering experience , like surviving cancer or just some experience that shakes you up and puts lifes priorities into perspective.

The rest of the world
Becomes a giftshop

This to me shows the great revelation that the world has so much to offer and that the petty things that used to upset us in life are really small and that there's so much to enjoy and love in this life.

Kinda cool how we get different meanings out of songs.

Ahh yes, I've had many fun talks with fellow hipsters about the meaning of songs. I'll add to the Gift-shop discussion that I saw an interview long ago where one of the Hip (don't remember whom exactly) said it partly referred to a trip to the Grand Canyon.
