Also I dont know if I agree that A Rush.. was mediocre, I think the songs need to be heard live to be fully appreciated, the album versions dont do them enought justice IMO. As for the new album this is great news, I cant wait to hear it, I think it will be a great CD, I might be wrong but I have to keep the faith because there isnt much else to put it in, as far as new(er) bands go, and like you said this album could make or break them, you may be right, well see. Im sure lots will disagree with me, but I really like Coldplay and hey someone's got to keep the torch alive, I mean who is gonna be this millenium's Rolling Stones? Hip? Metallica? Pearl Jam? etc.. I mean there isnt alot of great music being produced right now and I dont see anyone stepping up in a huge way to carry the torch into the future. At least IMO a band like Coldplay could be one to keep producing solid albums and making some kind of lasting impression, Im not comparing them to the Stones or anyone, but I think they could do big things and have some staying power at least, and thats all I can really ask for anymore, the days of bands going strong until they reach 50 and putting out at least a dozen or more(good)albums could be long over. I weep for the future
:lol: Im sure there are alot of great bands out there, and I know alot of hipbasers have there favorites, so Im not going to make a list of who I think is great and who isnt great, I'll leave that to the individual to decide what they like best. Im just thinking ahead, maybe in 10-15 years time, where will bands like The Hip, U2, Pearl Jam, Metallica, The Stones, AC/DC, Oasis, R.E.M, Blue Rodeo, whoever! Most of em will be long gone, then where will we be? I shudder to think.

Goulet, out of curiousity, what other "different styles" did Oasis add to their music? They've sounded the same to me since day one.

No kidding. If there's one band you could accuse of being one-dimensional, it's definitely Oasis. That being said, I guess it's all just personal taste. I have a friend who says the same thing about the Hip. It's a miracle I still hang out with the guy, haha.

Interesting. As they say, music is subjective, but to me Oasis has had a few good songs here and there but are more popular for the Gallaghers' shenanigans than for their music. I guess I couldn't get past the rock n roll lifestyle cliche and enjoy their music objectively.
