Just curious if Gord's solo material allowed him to get a lot of what he wanted to say out there, but was confined by the hip.
Maybe doing so allowed him and the band to get back to the fast rock sound that's rumored for this upcoming CD.
Whether it's slow or fast, bring it on. Can't wait. :thumb:

Maybe Gord used up all his wordiness on his solo stuff, and he's back to the more tradiational song structures of the RA & FC era.
Either way, I can't hardly wait for the album, and tour!!

Even though I enjoyed Music @ Work, you can definetly hear a "Gord Solo influence" on that cd. I think a lot of those songs should have ended up on Coke Machine Glow. I just think the band has evolved into a more mature band, writing songs that are stronger lyrically, instead of a guitar riffed songs from the first few cds. You may hear the new songs as "classic hip" because they have a strong guitar influence, but the lyrics won't be "She Didn't Know, or Highway Girl", not that there's anything wrong with those songs from that era, but I appreciate the band more now lyrically, and as musicians. I hope the new songs don't sound like old hip, just because they felt they had to, becuase it will sound forced. Listen to Forest Edge, slide guitar, could have been on Road Apples maybe, but the lyrics don't fit in that era. I think the new cd will be an extension of Phantom Power. Where they were headed before the solo stuff cut in...the music rocks, and the lyrics, of course are out there......

I thought of this after Coke machine Glow came out, but then we got IVL, which isn't that fast. But who knows. A fast album would be awesome!
