Something is about to happen!!
#31

Well pretty much what we expected and good on them for celebrating C Day and the bi-centennial this way. It will be hard to make a call on these shows after last years experience in Bobcaygeon and Downsview. What a difference the Windsor Casino show was though; great sound, lights and sightlines and the douche-bag factor was almost non-existent.

I'll be passing on these shows for now and give it a couple of months to see if something more palatable is announced, details on the VIP position, or smaller venues.

Meh. I have absolutely zero interest in outdoor Canadian Hip shows anymore, what with the rampant drunken douchebaggery and predictable setlists. I was hoping we'd get some official news regarding the new album and a full North American tour. I guess we'll just have to be patient and wait a little longer for the real updates to start filtering out.

Agreed. Spending 8 hours in a field as a "Survivor" cast member, to see the boys play for 90 min, just doesn't work for me anymore. I"ll wait for a US road trip...better venues, no hassles.

These two shows must be a huge marketing\money opportunity for promoters, band, and team, and I have no doubt everyone will give it 110%. Add the promotion of military bicentennial content, Canada Parks, and potential local commercial benefits and it’s all right. Day-after strewn orphaned sneakers on noble concert fields will be testament to good times, maybe the best of times.

However, more and more I think about it I'll be setting up a road trip fund to get my ass down to States where "doing the Hip" is better known as an orthopaedic procedure.

I love seeing the Hip in the States. Smaller venues, intimate shows, unique setlists, and for the most part the crowds are pretty laid-back. I'm saving some of my vacation days for later this year just so I can take a road trip when they announce the official tour. I can't wait!

I agree with the general idea about outdoor GA shows are a bit much now that im not in my 20s anymore. But I could not pass up the NOTL show. Its not far, I got a hotel 15 mins away from the show , I agree with the U.S. shows being way more relaxed. Plus in the U.S. you can get seats in the first 5 rows for half the price off of scalpers compared to up here. It would be nice if they announced some summer dates in the U.S. NOW so we can arrange vacation days accordingly.

I'm a little bit concerned. I'm 10 minutes from Oro.
Last year for Canada Day, The Hip were at Downsview. HUGE area.
This year, ORO. Not as big in anyway shape or form.
I'm excited about it, but dumbfounded in the same breath.
I get that it is COTTAGE COUNTRY and all that, but this is CANADA DAY, and ORO-Burl's Creek ain't that big. There are a ton of other spots-bigger- that they could have gone too.
Again, I'm very excited about this, but...ORO???

Mabey this is considered a mid size outdoor venue, even if its smaller they probably sell less tickets for it. The thing I would be concerned about is driving up to cottage country on a long weekend in the summer. All those people camping overnight will have to drive home in the long weekend cottage country traffic, Even on the best days it still sucks.

I believe this was the original venue for the 2009 Virgin Festival which was moved due to poor ticket sales. The festival ended up at the Molson Amphitheatre which seats about 16K, so I'm guessing Burl's Creek can accommodate quite a bit more than that which would make it about the same size as Bobcaygeon and Downsview.

Wait, so the big news was just two festival-type shows in Ontario? I was expecting a full tour, or at the very least an album announcement. Strange.

TTH: Vancouver 2004 | Victoria 2007 (x2) | Victoria 2009 (x2) | Solana Beach 2009 | Los Angeles 2009 | Victoria 2012 |
Portland, OR 2012 | Toronto #2 & #3 2016 || GD: Victoria 2010 | Montréal 2014

Ya dam I was hoping the same

I will not give up. My face is set,my gait is fast,my goal is heaven,my road is narrow,my way is rough,my companions are few,my guide is reliable,my mission is clear. I cannot be bought, compromised, detoured, lured away, turned back, diluted or delayed. I will not flinch in the face of sacrifice, hesitate in the presence of adversity, negotiate at the table of the enemy, ponder at the pool of popularity,or meander in the maze of mediocrity. I will not give up,shut up or slow down....Blessed Be!
