Back to Langlois, does no one else think that a lot of people probably find his voice very annoying? I think it's pretty unique and I like it, but that's just my opinion. Also, I've heard some live stuff where Paul is pretty off. Maybe he just can't hear himself though. A couple of my friends and I (who are also both big Hip fans) often poke fun at Paul's backup vocals, especially on the Hip's older work, e.g. She Didn't Know. I should mention though that I absolutely love Lake Fever and without Paul it just wouldn't be the same. Definitely his best vocal work in my opinion.

He sounds great on any version of Get Back Again I've ever heard.

Well, I'll tell ya'll, Gord is a much better lead singer than that joke from Nickelback.
It's not all about the voice, and I happen to think it's awesome.
Look at Kurt Cobain. A lot of people said his raspy voice would never make it, and he's considered one of the most influential artists of our time.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I agree, his voice is a lot better than Bob Dylan's and Mick Jagger's as well, both are obviously great artists, but as long as we're talking about "weak" singers.. that's not to say their music isn't great. As someone said in this thread earlier, its all subjective anyway. I think Gord has a great voice, while I will admit that it does get fairly strained sounding on long tours, to not expect that to happen would be illogical. Gord doesn't have a bionic voice.

I didn't even think of Get Back Again, he is awesome on that one. I'm just not so sure he has a good voice for lead, but it would still be nice to hear and find out. I don't know why people always ask what Gord would do if Paul is singing lead, why can't he just play guitar and sing backup vocals? Mike Mills of R.E.M. sings lead vocals occasionally while Michael Stipe simply sings backing vocals, and Stipe is every bit as much of a performer as Gord.

Actually, Dylan is a much better singer, technically, than Downie is -- especially in the last decade, where he seems to have significantly improved his technique. The quality of Dylan's voice is not as good as Gord's, but in terms of vocal technique, Gord is pretty poor. His singing always shows strain.

In terms of rock-n-roll front-man technique, Gord is unbeatable.

I will admit, I am not familiar with Dylan's voice over the last 10 years, so I can't make a judgment about it. I was just basing my opinion on his older material, but again, as I said its all subjective. I don't believe Dylan has a poor voice, and I happen to really enjoy his music, but I guess I was just going solely on the quality of it as you alluded to based on my own opinion.

If anybody saw Bob Dylan on Saturday night at the K-Rock centre they certainly wouldnt dare compare him to Downie or anyone else in the music industry today. He was beyond terrible. Im sure there are seniors at St. Mary's who sing better in the shower. And I love Dylan's work. I hope the Hip know when to hang it up. It was kind of sad watching people leave after four or five songs. This guy is a legend. It shouldnt be that way. He was playing classic stuff as well (Maggie's Farm, Lay Lady Lay, Memphis Blues, etc). Rest in Peace Bob.

if you've heard anything dylan's put out in the last little while, you ought to have known what you were getting yourself into going to his show. i was also at the london show and thought it was great.

that said, i do think that right now gord d. has a better voice than him... weird comparison to be making though.

Me too, if Pearl Jam and Collective Soul can let their guitarists sing lead sometimes why can't the Hip?
