since the ice bowl is in buffalo on new years day (sabres vs penguins), i think the hip could put on an incredible new years eve show the night before to ring in the new year. i know its wishful thinking, but i think it would be awesome to have a hip show, and then a historic hockey game the next night.

The way Buffalo supports the Hip - it would sell out HSBC for sure.

I remember Pittsburgh playing Buffalo in the playoffs on the same night the Hip played House of Blues in Cleveland. Pittsburgh won the game and the Hip just happened to open the encore with Emperor Penguin after being off the setlist for over 6 years.

The Sabres played the Islanders that night that the Hip was in Cleveland.
The fact that "Emporer" came out was just our privledge.
If they played "Islander" from Music at Work, now that would have been special.
I hope they play Buffalo on NYE. I think they like the Hammer better though. I will ask them when I see them in California on 10/11 & 10/13.
Any hipbasers in California ? I would like to hook up out there. Drop me a line if you are going to the Cali shows.

With all due respect to any other NYE ideas....
How about Detroit Cobo Arena. IMO this would be the coolest NYE show possible. Record the show for the sequel to "Live Among Us".

Hey Phil,
You are correct about Buffalo playing the Islanders. I do remember sitting in a bar before the Cleveland show and watching the Penguins win a playoff game. It turns out it was against Ottawa.
I agree that it was our privilege to hear "Emporer" that night but with Gord being such a huge hockey fan, I wonder if it was more than just a coincidence.
I also agree that "Islander" would be an amazing to hear live.
