Thought I would attempt to map the locations of the places TTH have played in Toronto since 1987, based on the Hipbase Archive (circle size = number of gigs played at any location)

the last image is my ideal spatial setlist based on the shows
(played North to South)

I love the idea of the spatial setlist. It's be a cool way to display all the setlists. Hmm...

I picked the songs (no repeats) that I would like to hear from what was played at a given venue (22 in Total). Some places had only a few options (Windsor Arms) while others had many to pick from (ACC).

Then I added the song titles to a new image at the same size as the Venue title (which is proportional to the number of times the Hip have played at a particular spot)

Of course I picked my top favorites from the venues the Hip have played the most (ACC, Phoenix) so that those song titles stand out visually (3-Pistols, 100th and Pigeon Camera Thugs, Sherpa are in my Hip top ten).

It worked out that ATHM was played at Ontario Place, the most southerly venue and as such I had my ideal set closer

As a cartographer, I have to ask...Where's the legend?

damn, I thought I might catch some carto/design hell on that one ….I started with one (I swear :wink: ) but it looked out of place, along with the other map element holy grails (scale, projection, orientation, declination, crown copyright…)

perhaps the series of images would work better as an animation -- or a sonification map…??
