Wanted: camera help/info from all you photog's out there
#1

Hey guys,

I'm looking at buying my first personal digital camera. I've always just borrowed my dad's or brothers for things in the past, but the time has come for me to spend some money. I'm fairly knowledgeable about cameras, took a few photography classes in college and what not. And being a designer, I always need photos to be high quality so I can use them for lots of things large and small.

Needless to say I'm not looking for just a quick little point and shoot, but I don't want to go as far and as expensive as a DSLR. I have seen a few options here and there while casually shopping around.

I was hoping to get some opinions and maybe other suggestion on one in the $400-$600 price range. I know a few of you out there should be able to help me out.

Thanks guys

Here are a couple I've seen..

Option 2

I'm actually looking at buying a new camera myself in about the same price range. Been doing some research on it for the past week or so, and right now I'm leaning towards the Canon S3 IS. MSRP is $499 but I've seen it as low as $449 (CDN). I also like the Sony one you have linked there, but the problem for me is that Sony cameras don't use SD memory, and I already have a 1 gig SD card for my current camera that I want to continue using.
