According to gord (102.1 interview) the hip have written about 25 new songs since they have been getting together once a week. They hope on having an album out in the spring of 2004!!!!! hock:

This is great and surprising news. So soon after the IVL tour, i had figured they take a longer break just like after M@W and after losing a manager.

And for god sakes MAKE A DAMN DVD!!!!!

I don't understand what is so surprising about the Hip releasing the new album in Spring 2004, "so soon" after IVL. IVL was released in June 2002. M@W was released in May of 2000 (2 years in between). Phantom Power was released June of 1998 (2 years in between). TATH: 1996. DFN: 1994. Two years, two years. IVL? 2002. New album? Stands to reason it would be released in 2004, two years after IVL....

It DOES seem like yesterday that IVL was released, though..... :wink:

exactly rory. it seems like IVL was released 'yesterday' because it has been less than a year ago, however, we still have a year to go until the next hip album. i can guarantee that in 2004 we will be complaining that it seems like the new album is taking forever to come out!

By "spring 2004" I bet Gord means June or so. That's when the last two Hip albums have came out. So that means they'll probably do a Canadian tour either late 2004 or early 2005.

Yes, Ahh yes, I pray for a new album sooner then later.
However I am still content with IVL.
The hip can start touring sooner though, I could handle that!

It seems they have set themselves to produce records and tour on a two year cycle. No complaints here about that.

You're right Rory, hadn't really thought about it yet. It hardly seems a year ago that IVL was released, but it is. And the next album won't be for another year. I got a little overexcited
