I'm curious to find out if all sound cards have the ability to transfer analog music from cassette tapes into .wav or .mp3 files. I currently have stereo speakers hooked up to my tower, but I have a feeling my audio card may be a wee bit out of date for this kind of task. Do I need a new card or is there a program I can locate for this? Cheers, all the best.

I bought an old amp and hooked this up to my turntable and casette deck. The audio-out on the amp is connected to the audio-in on my computer. Running CD Creator I can copy LPs and tapes. Once on my computer I can then edit as necessary. The cheap amp I bought has been brilliant, especially in boosting the signal from LPs.

I have a tape of the first hip show in Netherlands.(nighttown, Rotterdam 1991) It was broadcast on radio. Also a radio show from the same era is on the tape. I want to digitize it, unless there is already a digital version of this show. Is there a database of circulating shows?

Here is a good place to look if a show is in circulation:

If you want to put something from cassette to mp3 there is a free piece of softward available on the net called Goldwave. It's pretty easy to use and works great.
