I have a quick question about U2 floor seating. I have read the 'Door Procedure' on their website about how floor seating tickets are eligible to gain access to the 'ellipse' through a random process. Do you have to be in line at a certain time to be elligible for this, and is there any benefit to being there earlier?

Get there as early as you can. They only give out a certain amount of those wrist bands.

I got one of the last ones at the show I was at. There were tons of people in line behind me that didnt even have a chance because all the wrist bands were already handed out.

It's random. The wristbands are not given out on a first-come, first-served basis. However, prz is absolutely right. Once their scanner thingies have filled the ellipse to capacity, you're stuck behind it (which is still a great place to be!) Also, there are no seats on the floor. It is general admission standing room.
