22 over the speed limit. The address is wrong on my ticket. Think thats a good defence. It is my old house from a year and a half ago. Anyone have any history of getting of tickets?

If the address they have on file for you is incorrect but ONLY if your driver's license has your correct address on it, then it's their mistake and you might have a case. If your lic. has the incorrect address on it then you're shit outta luck because it would be your responsibility to update that information which I think is req'd by law to do after so many months.

But all things considered they might just look at it as it's your car, you were driving it and say "Pay up" :? But if you think you have them on a technicality then go for it.

I will probably just goto court and see if te cop even shows up. If he doesn't then I am off. If he shows I will try my weak defence. If that does not work then guilty.

Interesting idea Lance, one caution though,

When you move (here in BC anyway), you have like a matter of about 4 weeks or less to get your license changed. They give you a paper card with your new address on it and you rip off the clue strip crap and stick it to your license.

The fine for NOT doing this I think is $75! I was nabbed for speeding one day a month or two after I had moved and the cop checked out my license and asks if this is my current address, I'm like "no, we moved recently" so he says.. "Well I'll give you a choice.. You can take the speeding ticket ($100 + and then 3 points which I *think* are $75 a peice) OR you can take the $75 fine for not changing your address.. all in all he was pretty cool for nailing me for both offenses.

What you are thinking of doing is great IF he doesn't show.. if he does then you are taking on the risk of getting the ticket (its your fault the address was not right) so if he shows you get the ticket and since you are wasting his time by making hime come in he might be so inclined as to nail you for not changing your address..

Its your call but if it were me I think I'd suffer the speeding ticket.. When I got nailed I was lucky to have a decent officer.. You might not be so lucky Sad

In NS when you change your address they give you a sticker with your address on it. They just put it on the back of your licence. That way you only have to get a new licence every 5 years. I did have my address changed and the sticker was on my licence. He just wrote down the wrong address.

Then i'd goto court using that defence. You might just get off because of the cop's screwup.

They've done away with the stickers here , so you have to buy a new license every time you move. (Greedy bastards.)
